Celebrate the holidays on Kauaʻi at Elizabeth Freeman’s annual holiday extravaganza, the award-winning Festival of Lights! Celebrating its 27th year, local designer Elizabeth Freeman presents a transformed holiday celebration of Kauaʻi-style holiday art inspired by her and created with the assistance of local artisans from recycled and reclaimed materials.

This year’s transformed festival will highlight the exterior lighting of the park at the Historic County Building, the main government headquarters of Kauaʻi. Millions of lights will illuminate the expansive park, creating a festive public space ideal for social distancing. In addition to the dozens of tall coconut palm trees wrapped in colorful lights, there will also be snowfall and meteor lights projected throughout the park.

Festivities wouldn’t be complete without Santa and Mrs. Claus, and they will once again share their joy. With personal cameras and phones, visitors may ask an elf helper to take their picture, Fridays only, Dec. 1–22, 6–8 p.m.

Festival of Lights launches Nov. 28 and continues through Jan. 1, 2024. The park will be illuminated daily, 6–11 p.m. Free and open to the public.
